A Quick note from co-host Michael Kickingbear:

“I am an enrolled member of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut. As I mentioned in this episode, there is a document that resides in the library of Hartford which is known as “The Treaty of Hartford” which was ratified in 1638. In it, the arrogance of the English is front and center as they stated that my ancestors and my tribe as a whole would no longer be called “Pequot” and that the remaining ancestors would be sold to other tribes, slavery for the most part. It also states that we would no longer be allowed to speak our Pequot language.”
